Yellow Squash Sprouts

Yellow Squash Sprouts
(Toledo, OH) These yellow squash sprouts appeared a mere four days after being planted. I have had fair success growing yellow squash in the past, though my yield-per-plant has been a bit disappointing.

I am going to avoid thinning out the number of plants per mound this year, and hope that I will make up for lower per-plant yields with an overabundance of plants that produce one or two decent-sized fruit.

My wife got me hooked on eating steamed squash, thick slices prepared with just a hint of butter and steamed for just a few short minutes. I like it with some crispness remaining on the rind.
