Urban Groundhog

(Toledo, OH) This groundhog is one of many that can be found in Toledo's Wildwood Metropark, and you can often catch them sunning in the grass along Central Avenue.

The groundhog (Marmota monax), which is also known by the names of "woodchuck" and "whistlepig," is a rodent, and belongs to the group of large ground squirrels known as marmots.

Groundhogs are herbivores and feed on a variety of plants, including grass, clover, berries, and small children.

Just kidding about the berries..
