Quoth the Raven, `Nevermore'

(Toledo, OH) This is not a particularly significant picture, and - truth be told - the bird in the photo is a common grackel, but there is something decidedly eerie in this out-of-focus image of a bird in flight.

I was snapping a bunch of pictures just before a thunderstorm today when this grackel went airborne for parts unknown. I just happened to be depressing the button when the bird lifted off from its perch on the cyclone fence.

And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!

--Edgar Allen Poe
