Clematis Blossom Opening

(Toledo, OH) We have a clematis plant that is about to let loose with several dozen cranberry-colored blossoms, and the first of these velvety flowers arrived last night.

This image came out a bit strange due to the intensity of the white picket fence behind; I will take some more photos when the light is more conducive to handling this contrast.

The flowers on this plant resemble those you might find on silk trees: smooth, delicate, and pleasing to the eye.
